vid | Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs [fraserrayk]

Look ma, it's a VID!

And my first one at that so we'll how it goes. I will tell you this: this thing is addictive. Like, more than you'll realize until you're getting up at three in the morning to see how your rendering is going.

Also, probably the result of watching too much due South and my all-consuming love for Ray K. Oh Ray K.

Thank you for your interest. I have reuploaded to SendSpace (link above or here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/76ggp7)). Hope you enjoy!

I did enjoy! It's a very good first vid--there's some great cutting back and forth between scenes, and the song is just on the edge of frenzied, which seems to fit RayK perfectly. There were a couple of parts when the POV seemed to switch, accidentally, but I tend to overthink POV when I'm watching vids, so that could just be me. Just a quick technical note--there's some weird stuff going on with the scan lines; I don't know if it's just my computer being funky or something that you did/didn't do while...I don't know, ripping or rendering or *something*. I have no clue what's causing it (obviously!), but I thought I'd mention it, just in case it's something easily fixed. Oh, and! One last thing: I love how the end mirrors the beginning. Great stuff! Thanks so much for re-uploading.

Firstly, thank you very much! First-time ventures are always tenuous because you're never quite exactly what your doing or how things will turn out so yay, thanks!

Secondly, re: POV switches, that was actually a bit intentional because the overall lyrics are just ambiguous enough to never settle on a particular focused narrative voice and that refrain of "no one loves you like I love you" seems to fit both characters. I think they may have told you in vidding 101 not to ever do that, but you know, I've done it fics and I don't know, at the time, it seemed like an ok idea. In hindsight, I agree that that could be better managed or left or something, but oh, dear hindsight.

Thirdly, I apologise for the quality. I think it's because of the ripping because I tried about a million different rendering formats and it still did that. I didn't try re-ripping and redoing the project (because the thought itself gave me a headache), but that might've provided a solution I suppose. But yeah, I really wish I knew how to fix it, but I honestly have no idea so there you have it.

I don't think that it's a bad thing to have POV switches--quite the contrary. And while they probably would have been executed better a few vids down the road, they weren't bad. I just tend to overthink POV anyway--which is to say it's me, not you! *g*

Have you looked at any technical guides explaining ripping? I think you can find links to a few here. They might be able to explain what's up with the quality. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest heading over to [livejournal.com profile] vidding before your next vid--people there always seem really nice and eager to answer vidding questions.

Anyway, I hope you make more vids in the future, because this was a great first effort! I'd like to see what else you come up with.
